Last year, John Barry ES and The Earth Day Kids Partnered with ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION to raise funds for one of their own SEBASTIAN “BB” CARTER. ”BB’ lost his fight to Neuroblastoma,before we could present “BB” , his family and Alex’s lemonade Foundation with the funds raised.

A FEW DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK, OUR PRINCIPAL ANTHONY BENJAMIN CALLED A MEETING WITH THE EARTH DAY KIDS AND THE COMMUNITY COORDINATOR  MRS. LAMBERT TO ACCOMPANY HIM IN PRESENTING THE CHECK TO “BBs” MOTHER, MS .JULIA JABELLO AT HER PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT SUNOCO MINI MART BELMONT AVE.

LET’S SET A DATE TO INVITE ALEX’S LEMONADE FOUNDATION TO AND EVENT SO WE CAN PRESENT ALEX’S LEMONADE  FOUNDATIONWITH THE FUNDS ‘BB’, JOHN BARRY ES AND THE EARTH DAY KIDS RAISED.

THURSDAY MARCH 10th

THE EARTH DAY KIDS ALONG WITH THE JOHN BARRY SCHOOL COMMUNITY IS facilitating a PEP RALLY on Thursday March 10Th, to energize the students of John Barry School, to anxiously participate in the up coming PSSA  TESTS. The PSSA testing period begins on March 10th and ends April 14th, 2010

Please come out and support the students.
BY SPEAKING TO CLASSES
Our goal is to show, measuring achievement prepares them for their future.
Let’s help prepare them w/an appearance,pencils and tablets.

RSVP Tentative

Projected start time: 10:15 for grades 3-8 right after corrective reading.

Projected start time: 9:30 for grades K-2 tour of the fire truck.

THE EARTH DAY KIDS PARTNERED TO FACILITATE JOHN BARRY SCHOOL’S, MARTIN LUTHER KING’S DAY OF SERVICE

JOHN BARRY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S FIRST ANNUAL MLK DAY OF SERVICE WAS HELD MONDAY JANUARY 17TH ,2011.

THE PHILADELPHIA SCHOOL DISTRICT OBSERVES THIS HARD EARNED NATIONAL HOLIDAY BY CLOSING THE SCHOOLS

WITH EXCEPTION TO THOSE PRINCIPALS WHO WISH TO HOST AN IN SERVICE EVENT IN HONOR OF

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

 

PRINCIPAL BENJAMIN HOSTED THE IN SERVICE ALONG WITH THE EARTH DAY KIDS.

NO ONE KNEW IF THE VOLUNTEERS WOULD KEEP THEIR COMMITMENT TO US AND ATTEND.

8AM PASSED ALL THE STAFF WAS ASSEMBLED IN THE CAFETERIA ARMED WITH PASTRY’S,

BAGELS HOT COFFEE AND JUICE AWAITING THE VOLUNTEER’S FOR THE IN-SERVICE.

830 PASSED ONE OR TWO VOLUNTEERS APPEARED, FIFTY WAS EXPECTED

CLOSER TO 9AM THE CAFETERIA WAS STARTING TO REALLY BUZZ. THE VOLUNTEERS

POURED IN READY FOR WORK READY TO DO A DAY OF SERVICE.
